Attorney Stephen Novakidis has been recognized by the NAJ as a Premier Mass Tort Trial Attorney.
Mr. Novakidis, who was selected as a Super Lawyer in 2014, 2015 and 2016, joined M&B as trial counsel in 2014. Additionally, he is an experienced litigation defense attorney who has represented corporate clients for over a dozen years, on a range of issues including products liability, toxic tort, wrongful death, personal injury and premises liability. Mr. Novakidis’ role has included all aspects of litigation, from initial discovery through trial and the appellate process. Mr. Novakidis has served as liaison counsel in multi-defendant complex litigation, including the New York Asbestos Litigation. In June 2016, Mr. Novakidis tried a case on behalf of a boiler manufacturer in a New York City asbestos matter, receiving an incredibly rare defense verdict, and the only such result for a boiler manufacturer in at least a decade.
Mr. Novakidis plays a role in the development of client strategies for discovery, trial and settlement. He has conducted hundreds of depositions, prepared corporate representatives for depositions, prepared expert witnesses for trial and participated in all aspects of cases.
Mr. Novakidis has represented numerous Fortune 100 companies, including industrial manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and contractors in the power, oil, military defense, chemical and railroad industries. Prior to joining M&B, Mr. Novakidis was a senior associate at an international law firm where he specialized in toxic tort defense.
Mr. Novakidis is admitted to practice in New York (2002) and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (2007), the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York (2012), the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York (2013), and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut (2015). He is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
Mr. Novakidis received his J.D. in 2001 from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.A. in 1998 from Long Island University.
Mr. Novakidis served as a speaker for the Perrin’s 2015 conference, entitled “Litigating Asbestos Cases In Today’s Environment,” in December of 2015.
