Attorney Timothy Rountree has been recognized by the NAJ as a Premier DUI Trial Attorney.
Education and Experience:
Tim grew up in Texas. He studied at Baylor University and Baylor Law School, graduating with his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees in only 5 years. While at Baylor Law School he completed a concentration in criminal law and received the Matt Dawson Advocacy Award as well as the Frank C. McDonald Appellate Procedure Award.
Tim worked as a prosecutor in Dallas, Texas before opening his own law firm in 1998. He has over 10 years experience in the criminal law field, with 8 years as a criminal defense attorney.
“When I was a prosecutor, I learned how the government investigates and prosecutes cases. As a defense attorney, I’ve learned how to defend real people in real trouble.”
In 2008, Tim left the U.S. to work with a non-profit organization seeking restoration in underdeveloped countries. During that time, he had to learn what it is like to depend on others.
“Living outside the U.S. with my family taught me a lot about needing help. We had to depend on people to help us with everything from securing food and emergency medical care to filling out official paperwork in a language we barely understood. Having the right person at our side was critical for us and that experience transformed my own commitment to help people as a criminal defense attorney. I know what it is like to be in a situation that is beyond your ability to handle and to desperately need help.”
When Tim returned to the U.S. he studied at Covenant Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. He received a Masters Degree in Theology before moving back to Texas to open his law practice in San Antonio. Tim was born in San Antonio and grew up in Floresville, Texas.
In addition to the law, Tim is interested in languages and works to improve his ability to communicate with others. He has studied ancient Greek and Hebrew, Russian, Kyrgyz, and a little Spanish. He spends his spare time hanging out with his four kids and his wife Rachel. When he can, he and a few good friends go quail or duck hunting.
